I am an educator and instructional designer with ten years in Texas secondary classrooms — Special Education co-teaching, dyslexia intervention, and Social Studies across Spring ISD, Houston ISD, Fort Bend ISD, and Alvin ISD. I was born in Yekepa, Nimba County, Liberia, and came to the United States as a refugee in 1991. I returned to Liberia from 2019 to 2021, which shaped the way I think about education, access, and what it means to design learning that actually reaches people.
I am currently completing my M.Ed. in Learning Design & Technology at the University of Maryland Global Campus (expected May 2027), and I run Sankofa Learning Design — my professional brand rooted in the Akan concept of looking back to move forward. My faith in God is central to who I am and how I approach everything I do.

The project threading through my graduate work is Decoding the Code — a self-paced professional-development minicourse that teaches the six components of structured literacy to Grades 6–12 content-area teachers. It is designed with SAM + Understanding by Design (UbD names the target, SAM iterates the route) and built around scenario-based learning where teachers practice with realistic student evidence before they ever touch a classroom.
Six Course Learning Outcomes drive the design:
I am looking forward to deepening my skills in digital media production — video, audio, graphics, and interactive media — so I can build learning artifacts that are both accessible and engaging. Every artifact I create becomes part of a growing portfolio, and this course is where the production quality levels up. I am especially interested in how multimedia design principles (Mayer's cognitive theory of multimedia learning) translate into practical design decisions.
